Learning to watch TV?

The impact of media content on adolescents has always been a significant topic. Particularly with regard to striking acts of violence of adolescents it is often assumed that they were influenced by media violence. Scientific studies show that there is no simple causal relation. Yet, these studies advise to start with education in media literacy as early as possible. Media literacy or media competence includes the aquisition of media usage skills which can become determining factors for professional and social success. Therefore media pedagogical tasks coming into the focus of attention. If and how they function can only be determined through accompanying evaluation research.
